These results are estimates, not predictions. They're calculated from the figures you entered and assume your rate of return and inflation rate hold steady every year, which real markets don't do. Change any input and the result changes. Use this to compare scenarios, not to plan around a specific number.

Using the Kapitalwise Millionaire Calculator

Enter your current age, millionaire target age, amount currently invested, monthly savings, expected rate of return, and expected inflation rate. The calculator shows your projected total at your target age, and if your current plan falls short, the monthly contribution needed to close the gap.

Current Age and Millionaire Target Age

Current age and millionaire target age set the number of years your investments have to grow.

Amount Currently Invested

Amount currently invested is the total value of your liquid savings, retirement accounts, and other investments today.

Savings per Month

Savings per month is the amount you contribute to your investments each month.

Expected Rate of Return

Expected rate of return is the annually compounded return you expect your investments to earn, before taxes.

Expected Inflation Rate

Expected inflation rate adjusts your results to reflect how much purchasing power $1 million will have by the time you reach it.

How Historical Returns Inform This Projection

The S&P 500 has averaged an annually compounded return of roughly 10% to 11% from 1970 through 2025, including reinvested dividends, though shorter periods have varied widely: the 10 years ending in 2025 averaged closer to 9.8% to 14.8% depending on the exact window measured. Since 1970, the best 12-month stretch returned 61%, while the worst returned negative 43%.

Inflation has averaged around 2.6% to 3% annually over the past 25 to 100 years, based on Consumer Price Index data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, though it has spiked well above that in certain years.

Assumptions Matter

These projections compound over long timeframes, which means small changes in your assumed rate of return or inflation rate produce large differences in the result. A plan built on a 7% return reaches its goal meaningfully sooner than the same plan at 5%, even though the difference sounds small on paper. Because future returns and inflation can't be known in advance, these figures are hypothetical estimates, not guarantees, and it's worth testing a range of assumptions rather than anchoring to one.
